Tyler, Letitia Christian, 1927, Biographical Sketch

AN INVALID when her husband was called to the White House, the wife of the President died before the expiration of the first year of her reign as mistress of the Executive Mansion. Of her children, Robert Tyler, poet, editor and lawyer, married Priscilla, a daughter of T. A. Cooper, the tragedian, and she and her daughter, Mrs. Letilia Semple were the mistresses of the White House. One daughter, Elizabeth, married at the White House, William Waller, of Williamsburg, Va.
