POCKLINGTON Preston Carlyle (P.C.) Pocklington, age 86, of Richmond, died on August 23, 2000. Mr. Pocklington was the son of the late P.C. and Sallie Adams Pocklington and was born on January 31, 1914 in Henrico County, Va. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jane Keyser Pockiington; his son and daughter-in-law, Mike Pockiington and Patty Soileau of Richmond; two grandsons, Christopher Pockiington of Los Angeles, Calif, and Jamie Pockiington of Richmond; one brother and his wife, Herbert and Muriel Pockiington of Richmond; and many close friends. Mr. Pocklington was retired from C&P Telephone Co. after a lifetime of service as an electrical engineer. He was a past member of the Richmond Power Squadron and the Goochland Lions Club. His happiest moments were spent among his plants and flowers in the backyard of his home in Richmond. He will be missed by many. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 26. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the West End Vol Rescue Squad.
