A podcast is a digital recording, which today may be video or audio, posted to the Internet for download to local computers or mobile devices. Most audio podcast are in [MP3]] format, making them lightweight -- that is, small file size -- and east to download. The word "podcast" is a combination of "broadcast" and "iPod" -- the iPod being one of the earliest mobile devices suitable for downloading and playback of music and other audio files. Podcasts enable users to listen to their favorite programming on the go.
Genealogy podcasts have become a popular way for researchers to gain additional training and information, on demand, at convenient times and places. To find available podcasts, enter the keywords "genealogy podcast" into Google or other search engine.
