Ohio Veteran's Children's Home
Beginning in 1886, The Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), the citizens of Greene County, Ohio and the State of Ohio founded The Ohio Soldier's & Sailor's Orphans' Home (OSSO), later renamed The Ohio Veteran's Children's Home (OVCH), in Xenia, Ohio. Before it closed in 1997, more than 13,500 children were cared for and educated at the OSSO/OVCH.
