Founded by Hon. Thomas L. James, ex-Postmaster General of the United Stgates, who was the first Grand Monarch of the organization; Professors Oren Root of Hamilton College, Clinton, N. Y.; and J. F. MacGregory of Madison University, Madison, N. Y.; General William M. Nest and LeRoy Fairchild, both of Hamilton, N. Y.; with Rt. Wor. George H. Raymond, Grand Lecturer of the Grand Lodge of Freemasons of the State of New York; Lieutenant W. C. Eaton, U. S. N.; and many others, all Freemasons, as a social and recreative secret society. The Order announces that in order to conserve its own interests and secure the most desirable material none but Master Masons are made eligible for membership.
